For use with the MK 666 MOD 3

OP1200 Low Noise RF Modulation System Modulator Special Test Equipment (STE) and software for use with the MK 666 MOD 3 calibration and acceptance testing.

The MK 666 MOD 3 CWI NTS provides AM and FM noise testing with high levels of accuracy at very low noise floors. A significant part of the calibration and acceptance testing requirements for the MK 666 MOD 3 is to provide calibrated, very low level modulation tones as input to the MK 666 MOD 3, in order to validate/measure the accuracy of the noise floors that the test set displays.

The OP1200 Low Noise RF Modulation System is uniquely designed to facilitate accurate, fully integrated, automated and time-saving MK 666 MOD 3 calibration and acceptance testing. It consists of the OmniPhase Modulator STE and control software, which is installed on the MK666 MOD 3 and fully integrated in its operating software/system.

The Modulator STE provides the capability of inputting calibrated, very low modulation tones at specific offset from the carrier, at a broad range of input RF frequencies, in both AM and FM modulations. By means of its software, installed on the MK 666 MOD 3, the system executes a variety of pre-programmed routines in conjunction with other test equipment (the GFE TS2 and TS3) for MK 666 MOD 3 calibration and acceptance testing, with a degree of accuracy and automation that is not available in COTS systems.

  • The software enables the OmniPhase Modulator STE and the TS2 / TS3 to be fully controlled by the MK 666 MOD 3 (as host), via an USB and GPIB interface.
  • The OmniPhase Modulator STE is capable of generating AM and FM calibration tones down to 120 dBc, from offsets of 10Hz to 250kHz from the carrier, at RF frequencies ranging from 10 to 11 GHz.
  • The amplitude accuracy of the tones, in both AM and FM modulations, is better than +/- 1dB.
  • The Modulator STE is capable of outputting calibrated carrier amplitude up to 30 dBm.
